Bio
Cellist Grady O’Gara recently received his Bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas under the tutelage of Dr. Juliette Herlin. He has had the honor of playing in masterclasses for several cellists and musicians, including David Finckel, James Baik, Norman Fischer, and the Miró Quartet. Professionally, Grady has been a member of the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, and has also performed as principal cellist of the TCU Symphony Orchestra. Summer experiences at the prestigious National Orchestral Institute and Festival and Brevard Music Center have let Grady perform under the batons of Marin Alsop, Leonard Slatkin, Keith Lockhart, and JoAnn Falletta, among others. Other summer festivals include an orchestra fellowship to the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival, where he appeared as principal cellist with the festival’s opera orchestra, as well as attendance at the Texas Chamber Music Institute. His orchestral experiences have brought him to such venues as Carnegie Hall, the Wiener Musikverein, the Rudolfinium Dvořák Hall, and the newly finished Van Cliburn Concert Hall.
An avid proponent of new music, Grady has coordinated with many composers and premiered several chamber music works as part of the NuovoSound Ensemble, and the new music ensembles at Brevard and TCU. He regularly participates in chamber music and freelances in the area.
